Isle of Skye Directions By Road
Kildonan, Near Edinbane, Isle of Skye
Tir Alainn is situated in Kildonan, a friendly crofting community on a peninsula towards the north end of the Isle of Skye.
The nearest village, Edinbane, is just two miles away - and the capital of the island, Portree, is 12 miles south of the B&B.
Tir Alainn is therefore a popular base for exploring the whole of Skye.
It takes about one hour to drive the 44 miles from the Skye Road Bridge [Kyle of Lochalsh] to this location.
Access to the bed and breakfast is gained via a driveway, off the quiet semi-circular single track road running through Kildonan, with a junction at both ends joining the main A850 Portree to Dunvegan Road.

The ferry terminal at Uig - which links the Isle of Skye to the Western Isles of Lewis, Harris, and the Uists - is 18 miles away.
Skye's capital, Portree is 12 miles away. Dunvegan, with its world famous castle and beautiful coral beach, is only 10 miles away by car.
The main roads on the Isle of Skye are of a good standard, but some are single track - which may seem a novelty, but require everyone to drive with courtesy and consideration! The sheep can be unpredictable and care must be taken when driving past them. The old Scottish adage dealing with roadside sheep says:
'Head down low – it's clear to go. Head held high – a move is nigh.'
There is ample off street parking at Tir Alainn for guests' vehicles.
